Killing A Bad Strategy Before It Kills you (article)
-
Heroes are heroes because they are heroic in behavior, not because they won or lost.
-
Understand that ethical wealth creation is possible. If you secretly despise wealth, it will elude you
-
Interesting phrase from Paglia. “Heroic Masculinity on the edges.”
-
I spent years in DC. It’s basically a playground for fun jobs that only exist there and nowhere else. It’s so unlike the economy of any other area in the country. The problem is, it’s fragile, if the gov’t decides to cut the entire agency you can’t transfer elsewhere easily.
-
i try not to use the term “NPC” because i think it’s kinda dehumanising- but sometimes it’s real
-
how you look gets you in the door, but making it largely boils down to whether you got that dawg in you. and most people don’t. and that’s ok. this general principle is a hard one to swallow; you’ll see talented people with great potential in every domain give up every day
-
if you’ve got god complex why aren’t you forgiving
-
Well I was mainly thinking about this part of the song: ‘And, whoa, my nights are so long Where’s my wife and family? What if I die here? Who’ll be my role model Now that my role model is gone, gone?’
-
I used to have this feeling like, “I can’t die until I’ve been to Japan.” Then I went to Japan, and on the plane ride home, I was like, “ok, I can die now and it will be ok.” Going to Japan gave me this lasting feeling of completeness and okayness that I can’t really explain.
-
men in my unis confess channel are being absolute cry babies again… fuck ass losers
-
Melbourne is full of turbo normies with no vibes who have conned each other into believing they’re genuine eccentrics. Sydney is full of complete psychos with unresolvable neurotic damage who constantly inflict psychic violence on one another yet believe they’re completely normal
-
The insane thing about the heavy weighting on coding is that it’s not including cursor and API chads like myself. LLMs aren’t general intelligence. They are code intelligence. That’s where the demand is coming from - across the board
-
Charon, cloaked in darkness. Before you row death’s ship. Through the reeds to Hades, Steady the lader. Reach out a hand for the son of Cinyras. Help him aboard. He is too young to walk well in sandals and frighteend to touch the sand with his bare feet.

THIRD WORLDISMS - A GUIDE
-
Lots of lifestyles are bad for most people and good for a small minority. These things belong on the disreputable fringes of society where strange risk-seekers can opt in. It’s wrong to proselytize this stuff to everybody, and it’s wrong to try to stamp it out completely.
-
Big W for male theories of mental health: “Whatever, suck it up and don’t think about it” I am not sure whether I’m even being ironic.
-
You have to imagine the world like an online multiplayer role-playing game, except 99.9% of humans aren’t even playing, they’re just mentally checked-out NPCs. Then the few “live players” can literally quickly learn something new and flip the whole board upside down for everyone
-
The problem with striving and tiger parenting is that the final “prize” appears strangely unimpressive. There aren’t “jobs” that let you summer on Capri, or have a Great Estate, etc. That stuff is restricted to absolute barbarians who bet it all on entrepreneurship and win.
-
i am in dire need of a western romance. sorry not sorry. i need to ride horses and shoot guns with a man [image]
-
Italian men don’t “love bomb” like we actually believe that shit
-
I am in dire need of an eastern romance. sorry not sorry. I need to become a rōnin and study the blade with a man. [image]
-
it’s actually amazing how much of parenting is just clever misdirection and PLAY
-
Being numb to your emotions is a one type of dissociation, but equally common is being numb to your preferences (pleasure).
-
Normies don’t have opinions or reasons they believe things. They look around and copy whatever everyone else seems to believe.
-
Payoff space advice does not translate to the 4HL consistency space Two separate domainsMost advice on the internet is for the payoff space domain But 98 percent of the audience on the internet are in the 4HL consistency space
-
my consuming desire is to mingle with road crews, sailors
-
if true, an interesting implied corollary to this is that maybe women cry more than men because they carry more stories in them
-
we all have that ONE friend who HATES being hit over the head with a metal pipe and cries PLEASE DONT HIT ME WITH A METAL PIPE MY SKULL IS FRACTURED during METAL PIPE NIGHT
-
write a white girl vampire smut novel where the female main character has an identity crisis about her career and secret loves a MAGA guy but also doesn’t wanna be ostrasized from her vampire friend group for it
-
Kali uchis was SO REAL for this
-
What did South Africa have before dirt roads? Paved roads.
-
Having constant car problems is low iq behavior. crazy how some people have like 5 car problems a month. What’s going on bro.
-
similar to why eng leads and executives work such long hours. if they don’t work, the people they’re leading start producing less. the opportunity cost & responsibility scales on an order of magnitude
-
We struggle to take care of the soul because the soul can’t be viewed through the lens of function. It’s more form than function, more quality than efficiency. It’s not about being more holistic, it’s that the focus shouldn’t be on what something can do, it’s about what it is -

The Red Tapestry (2011), by Jaime Corum [image]
-
beauty and the beast hinges on this a woman surrounded by books has to couple with an animal in order to get her happy ending. the happy ending being an integrated self, in jungian terms

Valentine’s Day flattens out all the natural stages and depths of a relationship. You do the same thing the first year you are together and the 10th year. Other celebrations tend to evolve with the relationship, Xmas, New Years, etc. But Valentines Day brings you back to the beginning again
-
“Nazis” and “pedos” are the same type of category for the political sides. They’re viewed as subhuman trash, to which nearly all acts of violence against can be morally justified. It’s moral to punch a Nazi, it’s moral to show the pedo the wood chipper. Whatever your views on the true members of these categories, they’re played upon by activists looking to justify their violent urges on the outgroup. These labels are used by dishonest actors on both sides. Any right winger online has been called a nazi at least once. Many on the right are quick to call progressives pedos.

Dracula after having a visitor in his castle for the first time in 200 years
- https://x.com/GrimpyCoffee/status/1889858966093701530
- Something very funny about Dracula is that Jonathan describes his dinners at the castle as delicious and assumes unseen servants are cooking them. He is later horrified to discover that there are no servants which means Dracula himself was thanklessly cooking his succulent meals.

saw a couple walking into trader joe’s and the girl said “wow look at all the pretty flowers” and the guy replied “oh yeah it must be flower season” please pray for him
-
Broadly, men’s self-help tells men they suck and that if they work hard maybe they can suck less. Women’s self-help tells the women they are already amazing and the problem is they (and others) just haven’t accepted it.
-
Every word of this is true and I’m aware it does not make women look particularly reasonable but it makes sense trust me I once defined masculinity as non-reactivity + strong internal locus of control + naturally taking on the protector/provider/leader role
-
Ok so 2024 was shaping up to be a depressing and disastrous year for me and then I flew to San Diego, wrote SwiftUI while watching Below Deck reruns for a week straight, dropped two screenshots on the timeline and ended up with a venture backed company. So this is a factual post
-
“If you have reasons to love someone, you don’t love them.”We cannot list the reasons for love… love is excessive. We fall in love with the excess of the person.
-
some of the smartest people in the world are in fact so smart that they have a complete inability to imagine what it is like to be a normal person
-
AI art peaked already. The early images had an ethereal, dreamlike quality as the machines were just learning to see. [image]
-
the main issue with video games is that a guy who, if he lived in 1820’s germany, would have done something like document every type of beetle in his local province instead ends up making a 26 part youtube series about how to get all the rings in every sonic game
-
I think more importantly, the point is there will always be people who get off on causing physical harm and emotional distress to others they will look for means they can get away with they become cops, soldiers, teachers, volunteers and they choose their victims carefully
-
Europeans are serfs to their government. They have a long history of being enslaved, which is why they accept it so easily.
-
Bad advice. Women don’t date down. So you need to have some sort of financial or career accomplishment before engaging in the dating market. At least in cities.
-
I know I’m talking about Louis Lamour a lot, but one of the reasons I can’t stop reading him is how REAL his works are. Yes the characters are clearly fictional, and do clearly fictional things, but the era he describes is completely real and utterly raw. Contrast this with our increasingly virtual world.
